Bosnia and Herzegovina occupies a largely mountainous landscape shaped by the Dinaric Alps, with about half the country above 500 meters elevation. The country is divided into two entities, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska, plus the Brčko District. Sarajevo, the capital, sits at about 518 meters and is served by an international airport handling over one million passengers annually. The Adriatic coast is limited to a 20 km stretch around Neum.

Sarajevo hosted the 1984 Winter Olympics and features nearby WWI sites like the Latin Bridge where the Archduke was assassinated.
Dinaric Alps Terrain
Half the country lies above 500 m elevation in the Dinaric Alps, which dominate the landscape and influence local climates.
